In the Stars August 17-24, 2014…shining light on the astrology of the week

The Sun still shines in Leo for another few days (along with Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter), so enjoy the happiness and indulge yourself with one last surge of summer fun.

Sunday is kissed with the sweetness of Venus conjunct Jupiter. This is a good luck aspect, so be perceptive about what aspects of your life good fortune is appearing. Be generous, playful, and a bit extravagant. The Moon moves into Gemini late afternoon Pacific time, amplifying conversation and curiosity. The celebration of my August 29 birthday begins early with an outing with two close friends to hear the music of Sergio Mendez at the Stern Grove free summer concert series. How awesome to start the celebration of my birthday on this lucky day!

The Moon is in curious Gemini on Monday and Tuesday. The gifts of Gemini are at hand at the beginning of the week. Satisfy your curiosity through conversation. Monday is loaded with a lot of yummy and visionary planetary aspects. Mercury opposite Neptune could bring distractions and diffusions, but it also could bring inspiration and illumination. Be intentional with your conversations and allow the insights that are generated to glow. Communication and learning are still highlighted Tuesday, though not quite so intensely.

From Wednesday through Friday afternoon, the Moon is in compassionate Cancer. Inspiration, soft tones and colors, and delicate beauty infuse Tuesday. Tread lightly, and be open to some magic that could be sprinkled into your life. Thursday is a much more dynamic day with some sharp edges, yet with lots of potential for productivity. It’s an intellectually profound day. New discoveries could be made. Great insights could come through writing. There’s a long Void Moon period from Thursday afternoon (12:34 PM PST) through Friday at 1:49 PM PST. This time is for gardening, reading, cooking, and cleaning—not for definitive decisions.

The Moon moves to playful Leo from Friday afternoon through Sunday. The lunar move into Leo happens just as the Sun leaves the same sign, which extends the Leo exuberance and bright folly a few more days. The astral promise is a weekend of Super Fun, perfect for the end of Summer!

Saturday is simply glorious. It features an enthusiastic conjunction of the exuberant Leo Moon with benefic planets Venus and Jupiter. A trine from Uranus to the Moon may bring some nice surprises. It doesn’t get much better than this: Make the most of this awesome day!

While the Moon continues in sunny Leo on Sunday, Saturn squaring the Moon puts things in check and demands attention to limits and boundaries .After enjoying a very fun weekend, honor the demands of reality and reasonable limits. Just after midnight Sunday, the Moon moves into industrious Virgo. Close out the weekend party, and get ready for the vigorous demands of order and hard work.

The Week in Short:
Sunday: Good luck day! Sociable evening with Moon in chatty Gemini.
Monday: Soft, sweet, beautiful inspired day.
Tuesday: Communication and learning highlighted.
Wednesday: Walk softly in beauty.
Thursday: Dynamic, productive day. Insights through writing and communication.
Friday: Fun Friday ushers in a super-fun weekend.
Saturday: glorious, enthusiastic day that might deliver nice surprises.
Sunday: Finish the fun weekend by honoring limits and reality. Get ready for work.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet and before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things do not come together and it is difficult to make decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often do not come together and meetings do not result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. You will more easily get lost or meander if you are trying to get somewhere.

The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.

In the Stars August 10-17, 2014…shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

The Sun still shines in Leo for another two weeks. By Tuesday, there will be four planets in Leo (Sun, Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter), so continue to enjoy the summer fun and outdoor picnics and play. Again, be reminded to let the Leos in your life know how much you love and appreciate them, and ignite the fire on their birthday cakes to make their birthdays glow! They love the limelight and adoration.

From a Vedic (sidereal) perspective in the Indian astrological discipline, there is an extremely rare planetary alignment. Vedic astrologer friend Komilla Sutton notes that all planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn) are in Chara Rashi (cardinal signs) yesterday and today, Sunday, while the Moon is in Capricorn. She said “This creates an extraordinary drive and we can use this to move forward to achieve our desires. ” Sunday is a day for  intentions, resolutions, and positive actions.” http://www.komilla.com.

The Full Moon in Aquarius (from a tropical point of view) Sunday calls for gatherings with friends, and for new experiences and discoveries. The Moon is Full Sunday, and squared by Saturn, so the day comes with some restraint. This is the second of three consecutive SuperMoons which are when the Full Moon is at perigee, closest to the Earth, and thus, awesome in its beauty. The Sabian symbol for the Sun at this Full Moon is: “A houseboat party: the enjoyment of temporary freedom from rigidly structured social behavior.” This happens to be the location of my Mercury’s Sabian symbol. For all of us, the message of this Full Moon is to party: enjoy the fun, take it easy, and yet with Saturn square to the Full Moon, be responsible, resourceful, and disciplined. May the end of your weekend and the beginning of a new week glow with the brilliant light and energy of the Full Moon.

Monday and Tuesday the Moon is in Pisces, symbolizing sweetness and inspiration. Monday promises to be an imaginative, yet also productive day. You could paint a picture, create a beautiful website, or write the next scene in a movie script. Venus moves into Leo tropically on Tuesday, until September 6 (See Ten Things to Do with Venus in Leo at the end of this post). Venus amplifies the joy, creativity, and ardor that are already in motion with the Sun, Mercury, and Jupiter in Leo. This will be “a lot of Leo,” calling out lion-heartedness, playfulness, and fiery enthusiasm. Tuesday the Moon is Void-of-Course all day, and feelings could be strained. Relax and do some reading, and don’t waste your time with meetings and activities calling for clear decision making.

Wednesday is an enthusiastic, adventurous day with a new lunar cycle beginning in action-oriented Aries. In great contrast to the day before, it’s a day to make things happen and get things started that have been on your mind or on your list. Stride heartily and easily along the path of action under flowing trines to the Moon from Venus and Jupiter. Thursday continues to be a productive, active day, but with more edges and turbulence. Surprising discoveries or breakthroughs are, however, quite possible.

Most of the weekend from Friday forward features a Taurus Moon that calls in all things sensual. Taurus is the sign in which the Moon is exalted, or highest functioning. Delicious, beautiful food is to be cooked, presented, and savored. Add some fragrant flowers to the table. Mercury enters into discerning Virgo, where it is exalted, until September 1. This combination, along with Mars-sextile-Pluto and a number of other aspects make Friday a potent, industrious day. A lot can be accomplished—with grace and grounding. Saturday continues to be productive, but more tension is present, calling for calm and consideration.

Sunday is kissed with the sweetness of Venus conjunct Jupiter. This is a good luck aspect, so invite this good fortune into your life. Be generous, playful, and a bit extravagant. The Moon moves into Gemini late afternoon Pacific time, amplifying conversation and curiosity. My husband starts a big working trip to Europe this afternoon, and these aspects bode well for a great journey.

The Week in Short:
Sunday: A playful, innovative Full Moon day, with restraint and discipline! Be sure to look at the awesome Full Moon at perigee—closest to the Earth.
Monday: Sweet, imaginative, productive day.
Tuesday: Moon Void-of-Course all day; Relax, and don’t waste time or energy on anything calling for definitive decisions. Meetings meander.
Wednesday: Let the fun begin. A day for initiation and action!
Thursday: Breakthroughs possible in this active, surprising day.
Friday: Potent and productive day, grounded in reality.
Saturday: Another productive day, but temper tension with patience.
Sunday: Good luck day! Sociable evening with Moon in chatty Gemini.

In the Stars August 3-10, 2014…shining light on the Astrology of the week: Full Moon

The Sun still shines in Leo for another three weeks, highlighting summer fun, vacations, and outdoor play. Relax at the pool or beach, or take a picnic to the Farmer’s Market. Enjoy outdoor theater. Be sure to let the Leos in your life know how much you love and appreciate them, and ignite the fire on their birthday cakes to make their birthdays glow! They love the limelight and adoration.

The Moon is in Scorpio Sunday and Monday, and it makes lots of aspects (activity) with other planets. The First Quarter Moon Sunday calls for focusing on what’s really important to you. This Moon in Scorpio calls for solitude and deep thinking. Sunday’s many aspects give a lot of active energy, and a lot can be accomplished if you can use the hemming of the Moon between Mars and Saturn for focus rather than frustration.

The Moon is Void-of-Course after mid-day Monday: after 1:43 Eastern time through the time zones to 10:43 AM Pacific. Maximize the morning with early productivity, and then relax into reading and taking care of routine tasks, research, or organizing that does not require definitive decisions.

Tuesday and Wednesday the Moon is in soaring Sagittarius, the sign that reaches for the stars. Tuesday is fueled with optimism and enthusiasm. It’s also a fine day to plan a future trip to explore another culture, or to do explore locally (without the energy profligacy) by dining in a different ethnic restaurant or by reading something that takes you to new places. Question for this day: What different culture, religion, or country would you like to explore? The theme of exploration continues Wednesday, but the Moon is Void-of-Course all day, so again it’s a day not suited to definitive decisions. Just curl up with a good book. Or if you have to work, then clean up your office and catch up on reading and routine work not requiring clear decisions.

We can all shift back into higher gears Thursday and Friday. The Moon is in Capricorn, the Cardinal Earth sign of action that gets things done and builds structures over time. Thursday is blessed with a Mars/Neptune conjunction that can enable us to paint pictures, compose music, build a website, or to otherwise manifest dreams. Friday is the turbulent, dynamic day of the week when the Moon highlights the ongoing Uranus-Pluto square. It’s a day completely jam-packed with aspects. Both the Sun and Mercury make trines to inventive Uranus, so Friday can be a particularly active, inventive day of breakthroughs. Write, connect, and invite some awesome surprises into your life! Gear up for a sociable weekend, as the Moon is moving into Aquarius Saturday morning.

Saturday and Sunday call for gatherings with friends, and for new experiences and discoveries. The Moon is Full on Sunday, squared by Saturn. This is the second of three consecutive SuperMoons. SuperMoons are when the Full Moon is at perigee, closest to the Earth. Have you been noticing how awesome the Moons are in the night sky of late?…so close to the Earth! The Sabian symbol for the Sun at this New Moon is: “A houseboat party: the enjoyment of temporary freedom from rigidly structured social behavior.” This happens to be the location of my Mercury and its Sabian symbol. For all of us, the message of this Full Moon is to party: enjoy the fun, take it easy, and yet with Saturn square to the Full Moon, be responsible, resourceful, and disciplined. This week concludes with the brilliant light and energy of the Full Moon, this one symbolizing a combination of playfulness, innovation, freedom, discipline, and restraint.

The Week in Short:
Sunday: Focus, deep thinking, and solitude close out the weekend.
Monday: Get off to a deep, intentional, serious start, but then relax into a meandering day with the Moon Void after 10:43 AM Pacific Time.
Tuesday: Reach for the stars and explore worlds beyond your own.
Wednesday: Continue to reach for the stars—but you’ll meander with the Moon Void-of-Course all day. Enjoy the journey. Who knows where you’ll end up?
Thursday: Paint, compose music, or manifest dreams.
Friday: Jam-packed, active, inventive day.
Saturday: Gather with friends and do something different or unusual.
Sunday: A playful, innovative Full Moon day, with restraint and discipline! Be sure to look at the awesome Full Moon at perigee—closest to the Earth.

You will more easily get lost or meander if you are trying to get somewhere.
The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.

Fellow Travelers “In the Stars”–Call to action from Gehrig Coleman

Fellow Travelers “In the Stars”:

Today marks one month out from my sister Cathy Coleman’s 62d birthday on 29 August. In honor of Cathy’s birthday and the hundreds of hours she has devoted to providing this service for us, I am inviting the first collective action of the loose fellowship Cathy has created: a push to increase subscribers.

Cathy began writing In The Stars early in 2011. This past weekend, I noticed that subscriptions were nearing 300, and I began to wonder about mathematical progressions. Subscribing to have Cathy’s astrocast delivered to one’s inbox is free and takes only seconds to do once one goes to the site. There is no advertising, so all of the growth comes through word of mouth testimony. The numbers are impressive to me, more so because there has never really been anything more than casual and individual promotion. There may or may not be opportunities that arise from reaching a milestone like 500 or someday 1000 subscribers, but there is certainly pride and gratification. Let’s join figurative hands across the northern California hills, into the Great Plains and south to Texas, on toward the sunrises in Boston and Germany, and see what we can do in one month.

I am proud of my sister. Her heavenly missives lift our horizons and ceilings and protect us from hazard and even from wasting time. Cathy is generous and industrious. She has taken a writing class during this time and several seminars about constructing and maintaining websites and other skills that all merge to our collective benefit. I suspect that we all go months and even years utilizing the weekly wisdom but without visiting the website, because it’s not necessary. I know that many of us recommend Cathy’s forecast to others and even take the unnecessary time to forward it to others week by week when that could be done once, in one minute, for the foreseeable future. I know if I were just a little more assertive in my recommendations, I’d be doing many a favor. I’ve decided that instead of saying to people “You ought to…,” I’m going to say “CAN I…” (help you sign up on my laptop here or just type in your address myself?).

Anyone can unsubscribe.

It is five months until the 4th anniversary of In The Stars. Our target is going to be to reach 500 subscribers before the fourth year ends. My goal is to follow through for five people whom I know would be better off if they read Cathy’s account of the week to come. Please join me to help create a surge in spreading awareness and good will the next month.

Yesterday, the count stood at 297. Please join me by surprising her with a small portion of the energies she has extended to us.

Doubtless, this is an intellectual fellowship. If anyone has his or her own e-lists for one purpose or another, please consider whether they are applicable vehicles for In The Stars breakthroughs to new circles of people. Cathy faithfully includes GMTimes for European readers. I’d like nothing more than to see the readership in Germany and other European countries warp to full blossom.

Everyone have a wonderful and successful August!
– Gehrig Coleman, Kansas City

In the Stars July 27-August 3…shining light on the astrology of the week

Surely you have just enjoyed a splendid weekend! Saturday’s New Moon in Leo (conjunct Jupiter!) brought a brilliant, creative new lunar cycle. I had a super Saturday dining on the ocean at the Cliff House, shopping at the World Trade Bazaar at the DeYoung Museum, and walking Golden Gate Park’s Stowe Lake, topped off cooking a delicious, creative dinner and listening to great music Saturday night. Sunday is a bit more quiet but still holds the potency of Saturday’s lunation. A Moon-Saturn square tones things down, yet a Venus-Pluto opposition packs plenty of passion into the day. This is true of the next few days ahead.

Monday is a long, full day with a Void-of-Course Moon, so don’t expect the week to start with a bang. It’s not a good day for planning or decision making. Water the plants in your office, tidy your desk, and read some magazines and articles from your stack. Take time for a happy lunch with colleagues—preferably outside soaking up some summer sun.

The Moon is in industrious Virgo on Tuesday and Wednesday. This lunar position directs us to clean house, organize, and get lots of listed tasks completed. Virgo symbolizes efficiency and effectiveness at work. Whistling while you work would integrate the possibilities and give rise to joyous harmonics. Don’t waste these days on idle pleasures. The Moon-Neptune opposition Tuesday morning invites and facilitates beauty and inspiration while you work. We have a friend in Pennsylvania who thirty years ago addressed what he knew was his shortcoming: cleaning his personal space. Scott was a “slob.” His breakthrough came when he brought what he detested into harmony with what he loved (and very well could have happened under an identical lunation). He christened his new discipline “Rock n Roll Housework,” a solution that has enhanced his living space now for three decades and is self-explanatory. If you need a visual scaffold rather than auditory, then import flowers to your space or work around a finely appointed table. Wednesday is additionally charmed with lunar sextiles of opportunity to Venus and Saturn. These aspects add to the efficacy of the Virgo Moon and support productivity and wise decisions.

Lunar Libra brings a focus on relationships from Thursday through Sunday. Venus squares Uranus, likely bringing surprising new encounters and breakthroughs following emotional tensions. Mercury moves into Leo tropically until August 16, encouraging bolder, more playful communication.

Friday is the loudly rumbling day of the week when the Moon activates the Uranus-Pluto square. In addition, the day is challenged by a Mars-Jupiter square that tends toward over-confidence and recklessness, though it also promotes generosity and creativity. The day is blessed by a Venus-Saturn trine that generates diplomacy, graceful planning, and sound financial decisions. Friday is a very dynamic day, during which you could cover a lot of ground and get a lot accomplished. This is a contrasting bookend to the meandering Monday that began the week.

Saturday, like Monday, we are limited by a Void-of-Course Moon all day. Expansive ideas abound through the Mercury-Jupiter conjunction, but it’s not a day to take decisive action. Go to the beach and enjoy generative conversations and some summer fun!

The Moon is in Scorpio Sunday and Monday, making lots of aspects (activity) with other planets. The First Quarter Moon Sunday calls for focusing on what’s really important to you. This Moon in Scorpio calls for solitude and deep thinking. Sunday’s many aspects give a lot of active energy, and a lot can be accomplished.

Treat yourself to this short video of British astrologer Michelle Knight’s forecast for August:

The Week in Short:
Sunday: An exuberant, bold, passionate day that caps off an incredible weekend.
Monday: Void Moon all day. Tidy up and enjoy lunch with a colleague. Lower expectations and allow yourself to wander.
Tuesday: Fueled with inspiration, a lot of work can be accomplished efficiently.
Wednesday: Whistle while you work and get a lot checked off your “to do” list.
Thursday: New encounters and relationship breakthroughs.
Friday: Loud, rumbling day. A lot can be accomplished—with grace and style!
Saturday: Void Moon all day again, so not one for decisive actions, but there will be a lot of talking and expansive ideas!
Sunday: Focus, deep thinking, and solitude close out the weekend.

In the Stars July 20-27, 2014…shining light on the astrology of the week: New Moon

Rocking and rolling planetary aspects continue to energize us again this week. Saturn ends its 4-month retrograde on Sunday, July 20. Uranus turns retrograde on July 21 for the next five months. The Sun ingresses to Leo on July 22. Mars comes out of its very long and debilitated journey in Libra and enters its ruling sign, Scorpio. Last but not least, this dynamic week ends with a bold New Moon in Leo. Paint your world with color and courage as you move with the offerings of the gods in this coming week.

Enjoy the delights of the exalted Taurus Moon on Sunday, which calls on us to bring more beauty into our lives. Invite visual beauty like colorful décor or time in nature, the auditory beauty of music; the olfactory beauty of mists and flowers, and the beauty of taste in tenderly crafted food. Sunday is also punctuated with the dutiful demands of Saturn. Saturn makes a station and turns direct. Stations emphasize the symbolism of the planet, and in addition, the Moon opposes Saturn. This is a day to pause, deliberate, and earnestly plan the weeks and month ahead.

Monday morning may have a meandering start with the Moon Void-of-Course until 9:36 AM Pacific time when it moves into Gemini. With Uranus stationing and changing direction to move in retrograde motion for the next five months, Monday should be eventful. When a planet stations, its symbolism is heightened. This would suggest that Monday and the surrounding days would harbor surprises and breakthroughs. The Uranian energy combines with the clever, curious, intellectual energy of the Gemini Moon. Gemini’s ruling planet, Mercury, opposes Pluto and ties into the Uranus-Pluto square. The staff at the Institute of Noetic Sciences is teambuilding at a ropes course Monday. Cosmic alignments will stimulate conversations, break old patterns, and generate new ideas. This is the last day with the Sun in Cancer tropically.

The Sun then enters fixed fire sign Leo on Tuesday. This will light our lives with summer fun during the next month if we allow ourselves to play. Tuesday and Wednesday continue to sport curious, engaging conversations that produce surprising ideas. Jupiter is moving closer to the Sun. These days call for humor, connection, and conversation with one another. Amid such interchanges is the possibility for big, bold ideas to take hold.

Thursday is a magnanimous day full of aspects that give optimism, magnetism, imagination, sweetness, discernment, and challenge. It’s a cauldron of opportunity to cook up big ideas, to step forward with courage and optimism, and joyfully seize the day!

Friday’s Cancer Moon is a homey, compassionate backdrop to a dynamic day. After eight months in Libra, Mars moves into Scorpio. It is weak in Libra, and very strong in Scorpio, being its ancient ruler, so this is a welcome change of signs for the planet of action. Mars in Scorpio is determined and powerful. Plan to take advantage of its strength, as it resides here only until September 14. The signals are to power up, get on task, move some projects forward. Regardubg Mars’ movement into Scorpio, Jeff Jawer, in The Mountain Astrologer for June/July, states: “One of the best ways to use Scorpio’s transformational force is to purge nonessential projects and practices in preparation for making a major move. Since we’re also in the last full day of the monthly lunation cycle, the notion of cleaning out the old to make way for the new is doubly sensible.” It’s a more somber, serious, quiet Friday evening since the Moon is dark. Give yourself quiet time to prepare for the dynamism of the rest of the weekend.

The weekend will be splendid. Saturday brings a New Moon in Leo (conjunct Jupiter!) that shines in the sign symbolizing brilliant creativity and brassy good fun! Start this day with vigorous exercise to channel its friction and aggression constructively. The New Moon joins the Sun and Jupiter and closely squares Mars. The day is charged with aggression on one hand, but it’s also charged with creativity and the power to set things in motion. This past week, Friday was one of those days loaded with turbulence. Yet I noticed how productive some of my colleagues and myself were that day, examples of how much can be accomplished when there is a lot of angular planetary energy. Use this New Moon to fuel your creative juices. Take stock of how you express and how you want to express yourself creatively. Put on your dancing shoes, or grab your guitar and start singing! Be bold and paint your world with brilliant colors.

Sunday still holds the potency of Saturday’s lunation, but it is somewhat quieter. A Moon-Saturn square tones things down and brings us back to reality. A Venus-Pluto opposition packs passion into the day.

The Week in Short:
Sunday: With deliberation, take stock and plan the course ahead.
Monday: Meandering start, but full of curiosity, surprise, and breakthroughs.
Tuesday: Sizzling Sun enters Leo. Find the funnies in your day and call out your curiosity.
Wednesday: A day for connections and opening up to big, bold ideas.
Thursday: Magnanimous day with big opportunities to seize.
Friday: Dynamic day; Mars moves into Scorpio, where it is powerful. Dark of the Moon so ponder the rest of the weekend’s big, bold offerings.
Saturday: A very big bold New Moon in sunny Leo! Turn up the music on your creative dance.
Sunday: Another exuberant, bold, passionate day that caps off an incredible weekend.

Exact Void-of-Course Moon times for the month ahead (one lunar cycle) are:

In the Stars July 13-20, 2014…shining light on the astrology of the week: Jupiter into Leo

Rocking and rolling planetary aspects continue to energize an active month of July. This week has important shifts: Jupiter moves into Leo tropically on Wednesday, July 16; the Sun squares the April 15 Eclipse Sun on July 17; Saturn ends its 4-month retrograde on July 20; and Uranus turns retrograde on July 21 for the next five months. The metaphor for this week is turning, shifting, and changing directions. Attend to the signs and omens that show up this week to steer you on your path.

Mars, Ceres, Vesta, and the North Node are all very closely aligned at 23-24 Libra, trine Venus, and close to Saturday’s Full Moon on the 12th. This massive alignment occurred in the light of a SuperMoon–a Full Moon that is perigee, or closest to the earth. This is one of three perigee SuperMoons this year that will occur in three consecutive months: July 12, August 10, and September 9. Check out this story from NASA Science News on July 10, 2014:

Sunday, the day following the loaded Full Moon, is a light, easy day framed with the carefree detachment of an Aquarius Moon. Sparks of creativity and intuition are provided by a lunar sextile to Uranus. A lovely Mars-Venus trine makes for a passionate and playful day.

Monday morning flows with good energy in the current of a Grand Trine between the Moon, Mars and Venus. Use the morning to make connections. Plan with clarity and precision, and solve problems efficiently and creatively. Employ this energy wisely before the Moon goes Void-of-Course at 12:23 PM Pacific Time. Then it’s time to clean, read, or create—anything not requiring definitive decisions. The Moon moves into Pisces Monday evening, bringing a soft focus. Take a soothing, hot bath and then go to bed early for ample sleep and to invite dreams.

The Moon is in Pisces on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday begins with a Neptune/Moon conjunction that fuels imagination and inspiration. Then the Moon moves into alignments with Pluto and Saturn that can give form and structure to the creative visions and possibilities that have been stirred up earlier in the day. This is a special day that enables us to dream and imagine what we want to manifest…and then actually make it happen.

Wednesday brings the first of this week’s big shifts, with Jupiter moving into the sign of Leo, tropically. Jupiter in Leo (for the next year through August 12, 2015) brings exuberance, generosity, playfulness, and creativity. Leo is the sign that symbolizes children, so children may be a focus in the coming year in many different ways. Jupiter symbolizes expansion, travel, and other cultures. The thousands of immigrant children arriving at the U.S. borders and bringing an international focus to the plight of children is an expression of Jupiter in Leo.

The Moon is in fiery hot Aries and combines in identically incendiary aspects with the Pluto-Uranus square. The Aries Moon harkens adventure and initiative. Mars and Jupiter have now pulled out of the Grand Cross pattern, though the Moon opposes Mars Friday evening following its dance with Pluto and Uranus. These are cosmically very active, heated days. This is especially the case on Friday, when Mars is exactly square the Sun just after its spicy tango with the Moon. A Mercury-Neptune trine sprinkles bits of salve and sensitivity, but the intense aspects symbolizing conflict on this day can ignite tempers and fuel impatience. Friday is one day to be extremely mindful and careful. Drive cautiously, think before you speak, and center yourself before you react.
Also on Friday, Venus moves into Cancer until August 12 (see “Ten Things to Do with Venus in Cancer” at the bottom of this post). Venus joins the Sun in this sign symbolizing home and family—until July 22. Family gatherings and BBQs beckon.

The temperature cools Saturday and Sunday with the Moon in Taurus, where it is exalted. The Moon in Taurus calls on us to bring more beauty into our lives: visual beauty such as colorful decor; auditory beauty such as delightful music; olfactory beauty such as fragrant mists and flowers; and the beauty of taste through scrumptious food. Saturday the Moon makes opportune sextiles to Venus, Neptune, and Mercury. Plan to take it easy on Saturday. You’ll welcome that after the fiery Friday you’ve likely just experienced.

Sunday is punctuated with the dutiful demands of Saturn. Saturn makes a station and turns direct. Stations emphasize the symbolism of the planet, and in addition, the Moon opposes Saturn. This is a day to pause, deliberate, and earnestly plan the weeks and month ahead.

The Week in Short:
Sunday: Carefree, playful, amorous day.
Monday: Morning beauty under grand trine. Then make connections, plan, and solve problems.
Tuesday: Dream and imagine…and start the work to manifest those dreams.
Wednesday: Expansive, playful, dreamy day. Jupiter into Leo for the next year—focus: children, creativity, and generosity.
Thursday: Passionate day that calls for adventure and initiative.
Friday: Extremely fiery day; potentially dangerous. Exercise patience and caution!
Saturday: Time for repose. Enjoy all things sensual.
Sunday: With deliberation, take stock and plan the course ahead.

Ten Things to Do with Venus in Cancer
1. Take a journey through old family photo albums.
2. Call family together for a picnic.
3. Focus on home maintenance.
4. Make your home more comfortable.
5. Pull out your family recipes and make some of your favorite family foods.
6. Read a historical novel.
7. Get together with siblings or relatives and tell some family stories.
8. Gaze at the Moon in the night sky.
9. Honor your feelings.
10. Express care through a card, call, or gift of food.

Exact Void-of-Course Moon times for the month ahead (one lunar cycle) are:
